By now you’ve probably seen and heard about the wonderful health benefits of antioxidants rich foods in your diet. They not only help you look and feel younger by slowing down the aging process, but they can also help prevent cancer, heart disease, and many other degenerative diseases.
Antioxidants also help you recover better from the implementation … and this means that you can build more muscle and burn more fat in the long run!
And although we all want to be healthy and feel young … Most of us also want to look good! Every time you workout, free radicals are formed in the body that can create inflammation. Having adequate amounts of antioxidants about an hour before training can significantly reduce the damage caused by free radicals, thus increasing muscle recovery from exercise.
Some of the most powerful sources of antioxidants whole food berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, cranberries), cherries, acai fruit, various kinds of tea (green tea, white tea, black tea, mate, Oolong tea, chammomile tea, red tea – aka rooibos tea), nuts, seeds, red and black beans, purple potatoes, grapes, red wine, nuts and seeds, coffee, bitter chocolate or cocoa, and just like many other fruits and vegetables.
Many spices are also very powerful antioxidant effect, as cinnamon, turmeric, oregano, basil, black pepper, and most other herbs and spices.
Favorite pre-workout snack antioxidant load is part of the whole grain toast with almond butter, a small amount of black currant jam, and topped with a heap of fresh blueberries or sliced strawberries.
